Why Hydra?

Much of what Hydra offers is available using a combination of other libraries, frameworks, and infrastructure tools. So why Hydra?

Our goal for creating Hydra was to create a single, light-weight, NPM package which offers solutions for microservice concerns without forcing developers to think differently about building microservices. To a large extent, we wanted to make Hydra accessible to developers familiar with ExpressJS. Another goal is that we believe that developers shouldn’t have to be DevOps professionals to get started with microservices. In short, Hydra lowers the barriers to entry for building and deploying microservices.
